June Favourites

001. New Topshop shorts. As you can see I haven't taken the label off yet. BUT they are my new favourite shorts. And I'm excited that it's been shorts weather (occasionally) this month, too. I've been after a pair of high waisted denim shorts for ages and it's taken so long to finally find my perfect pair. So yes I'm very happy with this purchase. And I can't wait to wear them!

002. St Ives Apricot Scrub. My mum used to use this and I remember stealing it when I was younger. I suffer from a dry T zone but I also have really sensitive skin which means I can't use anything too perfume-y or heavy. This scrub is designed specifically for sensitive skin and it's done wonders for my skin - hooray!

003. Soap and Glory 'Sugar Crush' body wash. This smells DIVINE. I also bought the Sugar Crush body scrub which is also one of my favourite products from June. I seriously think that Soap and Glory need to create a body spray that smells like Sugar Crush because it's so yum. It's a fresh, citrus scent which is perfect for summer. I'm diggin' it!

004. Original Tangle Teezer. Anything that makes the process of looking after my hair easier and less stressful is a bonus for me. Plus it makes my hair look shiny, AND it's pink. Pretty great right?

005. Quickies nail varnish remover pads. THESE. These are amazing. I bought them from ASDA for about £1 and I only ever need to use ONE pad to remove the nail varnish from all ten nails. It's so much more convenient than having a big bottle of nail varnish remover and then having to faff around with cotton wool pads. Eurgh, so much effort.

006. Topshop nail varnish in 'Bees Knees'. It's a really pretty sunny yellow colour and I looooove it. It makes me happy.

007. Primark sunglasses. I bought these when I was in town a while ago and it was really sunny but I'd left the house unprepared and so to stop myself squinting and therefore prevent crows feet, I bought these. Turns out it was a good idea because I love them!

Favourite song: Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines. I'm sorry to be so generic but whenever it comes on the radio when I'm in the car I get really happy.

Favourite YT Video: Zoella's everyday make up routine. FINALLY.

Favourite app: A Beautiful Mess

Favourite TV: Paul O'Grady's 'For the Love of Dogs'

So that's it guys. All the wonderful things I've been enjoying in June. What have been your favourites this month? Link me up with your posts!

Summer lovin'

Anyone else feeling summery? It's my day off today and the sun is actually shining! I even spent some time outside in the garden earlier. Crazy, I know. The hot weather where I live seems to have serious commitment issues. Even when it finally arrives, it never stays for long. I suppose having what seems like an absent summer just makes us appreciate it all the more when it does finally get here! (Every cloud...)

I found all these images on Pinterest.

Swing

(Dress, Miss Guided. Shoes, Next. Spike bracelet, New Look. Glasses, Vaudou. Lips, Rimmel 'Big Bang')

Me? In a black dress? And the shoes I wear every day? WOW, I'm boring. I ordered a couple of day dresses from Miss Guided the other day because the weather was looking up and I realised the only casual dresses I owned were in the sort of baby doll shape, which I've decided I don't really like anymore. I know, I know, I change my mind a lot. Anyway, I ordered a few 'swing' dresses because when it's hot I like wearing shapeless floaty things because it's boho. And cool.

While we're on the subject of cool, have you heard of Vaudou? It's a really cute online jewellery store that also sells flower crowns and sunglasses. I follow them on Instagram and when they posted a picture of these lilac hippie glasses last week I kinda died a little, and then I found out they were only £8 and I died a lot. John Lennon style sunglasses with pastel colour lenses are amazing, no?

I've also styled my hair in a really rubbish stumpy little fishtail plait. My hair is slowly getting longer, but it's still nowhere near the length I want it to be. Maybe by next summer it might have enough length to look cool in a fishtail plait. Anyway, enough talk about my hair (I need to get over myself). I think June has been a bit of a fail on the blogging front. I've only done about half of the posts I normally do. But I do have some exciting ideas brewing and so keep your eyes pealed, I'll get more interesting I promise!

Insta Update

It's pretty hectic around here at the moment I tell ya! I know I said this in my last post, but I don't know if I'm coming or going lately. I'm thankful for any spare minute I have to spend with my loved ones recently, and of course any spare time I have to blog is always a bonus, too. I wanted to squeeze in another outfit post this week but I'm experiencing some technical issues so I settled for an Instagram update instead. Enjoy...

I seem to have chosen the black and white 'Inkwell' filter a fair bit recently. Normally I tend to stick to colour but hey, you gotta mix it up once a while.

Here's a few little bits and bobs I've been buying recently. I actually think I've done quite well this month (I bought the bag last month) because this is pretty much everything I've bought. It might have something to do with the new tires I had to fork out for at the beginning of the month and of course the usual, petrol, rent, food, etc. I suppose I'm lying anyway really because I ordered a couple of day dresses from Miss Guided at the weekend. But they were really cheap and I'm sending one of them back. So they don't count.

And finally, the miscellaneous section. Barry M nails in 'Green Berry'. A throwback to my graceful ballerina days. Some pretty daisies in the garden, and the cat who belonged to our old neighbours. We adopted him and got far too attached, now I miss him a lot!

So what are you lovely people all doing for the summer? I'm trying to work as much as possible to save up for a holiday. I probably won't have enough until about September time so if anyone has any recommendations for holiday destinations with good weather in September then please throw them my way!

Keep it real, folks.

Pushing Daisies

(Shorts, Topshop. Top, Urban Outfitters. Lace bike shorts, American Apparel. Boots, Ebay. Necklace, Primark. Bag, Zara. Nails 'Green Berry', Barry M)

Pushing Daisies was a TV programme right? Or am I making that up?
Note: I've been informed that it is a TV programme but the phrase actually means something to do with dead people. Which I think is hilariously awkward, so I'm keeping the title.

Well, anyway. What have you all been up to recently? It feels like I've barely had time to stop and think for the last couple of weeks. I've been at work almost everyday and I've been trying to fit in my internship whenever I can as well. Every spare five minutes I've had has been spent trying to squeeze in time with my friends. I don't know if I'm coming or going! I received my exam results back a couple of days ago too, and I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised. So it's been a manic couple of weeks, but a good couple of weeks. I'd always much rather have too much to do than too little! Know what I mean?

While I was outside snapping some pictures of my outfit this afternoon I noticed we have hundreds of little daisies growing over the lawn. I know most people think they're weeds but I can't help but love daisies. They remind me of summer. Plus they're quite topical seeing as everyone's going a bit daisy-print mad in the fashion world at the moment, which is always fun.

I'm guessing some of you must be off to IOW and Download this weekend right? If you are I hope you have a wonderful time - try not to brag about it too much!

Best of the 90s: Music

So far I've shared with you my favourite 90s TV shows as well as my favourite 90s fashion. And today I'm back with some more wonders from the 90s, and this time it's all about music. I don't think a lot of people really consider the 90s a particularly revolutionary decade for music, but if you look past Boyzone and the Spice Girls, there's a lot of great musicians that came onto the scene in the 90s, many of whom I still listen to today! And what better to listen to them all on than a walkman?!

The Red Hot Chili Peppers

I remember my brother getting his first ever guitar when we were younger and then listening to a lot of Red Hot Chili Peppers after that. (He's an amazing player now - check him out on sound cloud!) Anyway, I find the Red Hot Chili Peppers are a great band to listen to in the car with the windows rolled down on a hot sunny day. Is that lame?

Nirvana

Couldn't really do a whole post on 90s music and not include Nirvana, could I?

Oasis

Everyone has their favourite Gallagher brother, and mine's gotta be Noel, the brains behind the band! I really like his new band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, too, and one of my best friends sang as a backing singer at one of their gigs a while ago. Cool huh?! Oasis seem to possess a very laid back 'I don't care about anything' vibe and I have to say, I really dig it.

Foo Fighters

Dave Grohl making a second appearance in this post, what a great guy. The Foo Fighters are up there as one of my favourite bands, and was I jealous last summer when my brother saw them at Reading festival? No... of course not...

Goo Goo Dolls

oh yeah and I was listening to Iris way before it was 'cool'.

If you've read this post thinking 'you were born in 1992, there's no way you were actually listening to these bands in the 90s' you are correct. It was my older brother who (probably unknowingly) got me listening to these bands when we were younger, but it wasn't until I was a teenager when I developed more of an interest in music anyway. So at 8 years old I was not headbanging to the Foo Fighters, but I definitely am now. All thanks to my favourite decade for spewing out some really great music!

Obviously I've missed a lot of bands out of this post because, well I'm only human. So leave me a comment with some of your favourite 90s music!

Leather & lace

(Leather shorts, Topshop. Lace top, New Look. Studded sandals, Next. Sunglasses, Primark. Spike bracelet, New Look.)

I feel like I always start my blog posts with a chat about the weather, but... I think it might be summer? Finally! The sun is out and the air is warm and for the last few days (when I haven't been at work), I've been relaxing in the garden with a Corona and planning BBQs and holidays with friends. There's something about warm weather that puts everyone in a good mood and I find myself enjoying boring activities, like walking to the shops to run errands, just because it means I get to enjoy the sun.

Since the sun's made an appearance I realised I don't seem to have any sunglasses that aren't broken. I don't know how I manage it but I always break the arms off my sunglasses, which is really annoying. I suppose it might have something to do with the fact I only ever pay about £2 for them from Primark. Maybe. Anyway, I decided to get a new pair (£2.50 this time - pushed the boat out) and I feel like Mary-Kate Olsen in these bad boys. They're huge and stupidly round. I'm not 100% sure they suit me but, whatever. They're cool.

I paired them with my leather shorts and an old lacy top to meet a gal pal for lunch yesterday. Lace and leather is the perfect combo is it not??! I actually bought the rose gold cuff whilst I was out and added it to my other wise jewellery-lacking outfit straight away. The spikes tied in with the little studs on my shoes and at about £2 in the sale I thought it was a pretty good shout.

What are you all up to this week? I'm starting my internship this Thursday which is pretty exciting. I'm trying to pick up as many hours at work as possible this summer, so along with blogging and interning hopefully the next few months will be quite productive! And maybe I'll get a holiday at the end of it to make it all worthwhile.

Catch ya later!

Summer inspiration wishlist

June Wishlist

I've had one of those lazy days today where you run a few errands in the morning and spend the rest of the day pottering around the house and garden. I like these days but they almost always end up with me browsing the internet for clothes that I can't afford. However, I find making little wishlists like this distracts me from actually buying the items, so I can enjoy the prettiness without breaking the bank balance. Good compromise? I guess not. Hopefully they'll end up in my wardrobe at some point in the future, but maybe not today.

I think my favourite item on the list is the floral midi skirt from Urban Outfitters. I really want a skirt like this to wear on holiday with a floppy hat, or just to stroll around the shops in with crop tops and flip flops (...that rhymed). I've included a couple of basic tops as well on the list because I always find myself buying loads of bottoms and then not having enough different tops to pair with them. I realise the cardigan is a bit unseasonal, but the weather in England is temperamental at the best of times, and I always need something cosy to keep off the chill in the summer evenings anyway!

To my otherwise quote monochrome wish list, I've added a couple of colour-pop accessories. I've been going on about Topshop's lipstick 'Screen Siren' a bit recently, but I can't help it. It looks so lovely but they don't seem to stock it in my local store, booo! The pastel Litas are the Jeffers that made it to the list. I'm always wishing for some kind of JCs whether that be the Litas, Foxy platforms, Coltranes, etc - but somehow my shoe collection is still void of any. Ah, the life of a poor student!
