Spring boots wishlist!

Happy Easter lovely people! Being one of only 2 days of the whole year that my work is actually shut, I'm having a very lazy day in front of the TV. Later on I'll be heading over to my see my family and eat a lovely roast dinner before going to a friends for a couple of drinks. Pretty good day off I think! What have you all got planned for this Easter Sunday? (Other than eating your weight in chocolate).

This time last year it was bright and sunny and warm and we were all eating ice creams and lazing around in our shorts and summer dresses. At a very chilly 5 degrees I think it's safe to say that this year has turned out slightly different. No point crying over it though. If we have an extra couple of months of winter maybe it'll mean we might actually get some decent weather during the summer this year? Well, we can hope.

Anyway! Seeing as it looks like the cold winter weather is here to stay for a while and we probably won't be digging out the sandals anytime soon, I thought that I'd put a little wishlist together with some footwear that will keep our toes warm whilst still looking a little bit Summery.

1. These ones are Topshop and definitely my favourite of the lot. I noticed them on Pinterest the other day and fell in love. If only I had a spare £75. Sigh.

2. I do love Doc Martins and these white ones are perfect for Spring! L o v e.

3. River Island. At first I wasn't sure if I liked these. But I do like the colour and I love the fringing. So yep. These are good.

4. Steve Madden. The combination of pretty lace on the grungy combat boot. Perfect!

5. These Acne boots are just a teensy bit out of my budget, coming it at just over £400. But they're beautiful so deserved a place on the list anyway.

6. Had to include these cute little flowery ones from Forever 21 even though they're not exactly my style. I still think they'd look great with a summery dress!

I hope you liked my little Spring boots wishlist! Really need to get my hands on those floral Topshop ones. Maybe I'll have a cheeky look on Ebay. Happy Easter everyone!

DIY - Studded neon elbow patches

Studded yellow neon elbow patch

What's that sorry? Neon elbow patches you say? Oh, with studs too?

Well. This is all very exciting. Yes, I got a little bored earlier and in the spur of the moment decided to spruce up an old jumper with some pretty new elbows. Does this sound like something that would interest you too? If so then it must be your lucky day because I just happen to have the instructions right here!

Firstly. What you will need:

Sewing kit DIY studded neon elbow patches

- A jumper. Or cardigan. Or shirt. Or anything with boring elbows. It's really up to you.
- Fabric in a contrasting colour / pattern
- Basic sewing kit (yours doesn't have to have cupcakes on - but it's just cooler if it does)
- Scissors
- A pen
- Scrap of paper
- Oh and loads of tiny pyramid studs (not shown)

Okay now that you have all your materials together it's time to get cracking.

DIY studded neon elbow patches

Step 1 - Actually put the jumper on and mark out with the pen where your elbows are. Don't just guess - it won't work.

Step 2 - Cut out a little stencil with the scrap of paper in whatever shape you want your patches to be. I chose a heart shape because I'm such a cutie pie (just kidding) but it can really be whatever shape you want!

Step 3 - Use the stencil to draw onto the fabric and carefully cut out your patches. If you're going to put studs round the edges like mine then it won't matter too much if it's a little rough. But if you're not then you'll want your edges to be as perfect as possible.

Step 4 - Now this is the trickier bit. Grab a needle and thread (preferably of a similar colour to the fabric) and sew your little patches onto the sleeves of your jumper covering up the marks you made earlier. Try and be careful not to accidentally sew the sleeves together or anything stupid like that (er, that totally didn't happen to me).

Step 5 - Try it on again! This way you can see how they look and make sure they're in the right places.

Step 6 - If your cutting and sewing skills aren't too shabby then feel free to stop here! But if you're like me and felt that the little patches looked a little 'unfinished' then grab your studs and attach them all round the edges of your hearts. They're pretty self explanatory to apply, just poke them through the material and fold down the little spikes. Easy! (Although it did ruin my nails).

And you're DONE!

I hope you liked this little tutorial, and I'd love to see any DIYs you've done yourselves.

Channeling Beetlejuice

(Joni jeans, Topshop. T shirt, Primark. Jacket, River Island. Necklace, Primark. Boots, Ebay. Nails, 'Awol' by Topshop.)

Firstly, let me apologise for the quality of these pictures. I only had my phone with me. Secondly, let me apologise for the chipped nail varnish. I just wanted you to see the lovely colour.

It seems like ages since I last did an outfit post. I suppose I should really make more of an effort to do them since I like to consider this a 'personal style' blog. Well anyway, here I am showing off my outfit of the day for you. Although really I'll be getting changed soon as I have work this afternoon. So it's more like an outfit of the morning. Cool?

I'm wearing my favourite new Topshop Joni jeans. I'm kind of obsessed and I haven't really worn anything else since I bought them. I was really worried that I'd struggle to find the right size because Topshop jean sizes can be a bit... temperamental. But these were the first ones I tried on and they fit like a dream! (er, if I do say so myself) they're such a flattering style as well, very skinny and very high waisted. They remind me of American Apparel disco pants a bit, but they're better because jeans never go out of fashion, and I have a feeling disco pants will be on the way out soon (woah - controversial opinion). Basically they're perfect and I'm in love with them.

So I wore my beautiful new jeans with my stripy Primark T shirt. Apparently vertical black and white stripes are gonna be a big trend this season. I don't know, I just think I look like Beetlejuice. In a good way. My matte blue nails add a bit of colour to my monochrome outfit and I threw on my neon spike necklace to finish it off. Simples! You won't be able to see but the socks I'm wearing have little cats faces on. If you know me at all you'll know I love cats. Seriously, I'm like a crazy cat lady. I've recently been adopted by my neighbours fat ginger cat and I'm getting way too attached to him. He comes in and watches TV with me. Such a cutie!

Anyway, I'm getting distracted.

So what do you think of the Beetlejuice look? Pretty awesome style icon isn't he?

Catch ya later

Spring outfits...

Is it Spring yet? Or is it still Winter? It was snowing a couple of weeks ago but it was sunny and warm again today. I think the weather is either having an identity crisis or purposefully trying to confuse us. I hope it makes up its mind soon, and I hope it chooses to stay bright and warm.

I'm gradually making my way towards the end of my second year at Uni. Half of my lectures have already finished and the rest are only on for the next week or so, then it's just a couple of months of endless essay writing and exam revision and I'll be done for the summer. I. Can't. Wait. This past year has been pretty rubbish if I'm honest and I spent most of it in two minds as to whether I really wanted to carry on with my degree at all. So for the end to finally be in sight is a such a relief. Anyway! The excitement of the sunny weather recently and the prospect of having three months off has resulted in a lot of planning and preparation for a holidays, decorating, summer internships, oh and of course, outfits

I decided the other day to start putting together a 'mixology' of Spring outfit ideas so that I can get the best use out of the clothes I already own, and obviously plan what items I need to add to my wardrobe too! I think it's safe to say that this Spring I'll be stacking my statement necklaces (if you can't decide - wear them all!) and pairing them with mini skirts and dresses with the big chunky heeled boots that I love so much at the moment. While organising my Spring wardrobe I've definitely come to the conclusion that I need some more crop tops or bralets so I can make the most of my new maxi skirt and Joni jeans. And I might even invest in a new denim jacket to throw over the top of all my Spring time outfits - because knowing England, even when the sun does make an appearance it never stays for long.

(Crop top - New Look. Skirt - H&M. Bag - Zara. Boots - Next. Necklaces - Primark.)

(Dress - Topshop. Heels - New Look. Bag - Miss Selfridge (DIY studs!). Necklace - Primark.)

(T-shirt - Zara. Bag - Primark. Skirt, shoes & belt - Topshop)

(Dress - H&M. Bag - Primark. Necklaces - Primark & Topshop)

(Shorts, socks & hat - Topshop. Boots - Ebay)

I hope you enjoyed my Spring outfit mixology and it inspires you to start looking through your wardrobes for outfit ideas too. I'd love to see them!

Lazy Sunday wish list!

It seems like ages since I've written anything on here. I think it's only been a week, but I'm back now - I hope you didn't miss me too much. Today is a lazy Sunday as I have the day off work and so I decided to spend my morning putting together a little wish list post as there is so much stuff out on the high street at the moment that I'm lusting after. Now that I look at everything I think it would actually make a pretty nice outfit if worn all together... if only I could afford it all. Sigh.

H&M ring stack - I love rings. The only jewellery I really wear are rings and necklaces. I don't like having things on my wrists very much especially as I do a lot of writing and typing and I hate it when bracelets tap on the desk, it irritates me! I think a few simple rings add just the right amount of bling to suit my style, and these gold ones are perfect!

Topshop lipstick in 'Brighton Rock' - Pink lips are my favourite. I have a lot of different pink lip colours as I think it suits me better than red and my make up never feels completely 'done' without a bright lippy. I think this Brighton Rock colour will be great for summer - especially as I have a Brighton road trip planned!

Primark necklace - At the moment I am all about necklaces like this. Stacks and stacks of them. I bought three different ones from Primark the other day and they were all only about £4 each. Total bargain! I am really impressed with Primark recently, they have had some really great Topshop and Zara dupes as well as some great stuff of their own which can all be picked up for small change. Amazing.

Cambridge Satchel - This is the 'sweet pea' colour from the Chelsea collection of Cambridge satchels and oh my God it's so beautiful. I would absolutely love one of these for Spring / Summer but at £120 somehow I don't think it's going to happen. A girl can dream though right?

Topshop crop top - Tops with necklaces attached. A current obsession if I ever had one! I've decided I need some more crop tops and bralets to go with my maxi skirt this summer and this one is so pretty I love it! Although again, it's possibly a teeny bit overpriced considering it's only a crop top. So I think I'll give this one a miss. Maybe I'll see if Primark do a dupe...

Black fedora - Hats! I love hats. I already own a black bowler hat but I've been seeing people around wearing these fedora styles recently and, well, now I must have one too. This one from Rag & Bone is pretty nice and, as I don't think I'm brave enough to stray from black at the moment, one like this would be perfect!

Topshop Joni jeans - If there is anything on this wish list that I think I will definitely be investing it, it's these jeans. They're black, skinny and high wasted. I have been trying to find a decent pair of black skinnies recently but I haven't been able to find any that are just right. These are the ones. And at £36 they're really not that bad - (for Topshop!)

Zara flats - Finally, the shoes! I've been after a pair of Zara's flat pumps with ankle straps for a while and I'm dying over these black studded ones. Maybe on pay day...

So that's everything! What have you all been lusting after recently?

PS. Seeing as the GFC world seems to be having a bit of a 'mare at the moment, please follow my Bloglovin' account if you'd like to be kept up to date with posts!

Recent shopping haul... #2

Shopping haul

River Island purse

I went shopping. Again. I know a few posts ago I mentioned that I'd restricted myself to cash only and decided to leave my debit cards at home. It was going really well, but then I got paid. And it all went down hill from there.

Anyway I thought I'd give you all a sneaky peek at the things I bought whilst mooching around town the other day. I haven't taken detailed pictures of everything and I've already cut all the tags off so I can't remember how much things were. But, whatever.

So I bought two T shirts. A monochrome stripey one from Primark, and a white one with a gold chain attached to the neckline from River Island. I have a similar T shirt from Zara with a detailed neckline and I wear it to death so when I saw this one from RI I snapped it up as I knew I'd get loads of wear out of it. I'm really into black and white stripes and the moment, especially vertical ones so this T shirt from Primark was a pretty good find. I haven't really worn it yet though I'm still trying to decide how best to wear it.

Next up! Bikini bottoms. Yes, I realise it's only March. They are high wasted, have mesh panels at the sides and have a beautiful summery pattern on them so I thought what the hell? And went for it. Instead of forking out for the matching top I decided I'll probably just pair them with a block colour (probably black) bikini top. Now I just need it to be summer so I can actually wear this!

I also bought a simple black maxi skirt from h&m - you can see me wearing it in my previous post with a white crop top (which is also new but I haven't included in the haul). I'd been thinking that I wanted one and as if by magic I found this one the very next day. The little black boots from ASOS just happen to look pretty damn great with the skirt too. What a happy bunny I am.

Then to round off the haul I bought a couple of accessories too. The statement necklace is from New Look (for times when I'm not wearing tops with necklaces already attached!) and the tiny little peace earrings are River Island. I have lots of piercings in my ears but barely ever wear anything in my lobes, so I bought these small studs just to keep in so they don't close up! I also bought a new purse for the first time in years. I had a trusty black leather one that my Dad bought me on holiday a few years ago, but it's really falling apart now so I decided to bite the bullet and get myself a new one. Lime green isn't really a practical colour and I'll probably go off it soon but hey, it was only a tenner. (Also from River Island).

Oh and I nearly forgot! My new Topshop nail varnish in 'bees knees'. It's a sunny yellow colour and makes me feel happy and Spring-like just looking at it! I recommend getting yourselves some Spring nail varnishes if you suffer from the Winter blues like myself, because a little pop of colour on your nails makes it feel like summer even if it's not warm enough to wear your new bikini yet.

What have you all been buying recently??

Crimped hair don't care

(Skirt, H&M. Crop top, New Look. Boots, ASOS. Bag, Miss Selfridge. Necklace, New Look. Belt, Topshop. Watch, Riverisland)

Hi there! I bought the Enrapture jumbo hair waver the other day. It's amazing. When I was younger I had a pink hair crimper which I absolutely loved, and this waving tool is basically a grown up version of that. Only obviously it creates bigger waves, so the look is more boho - and less punk.

As I was feeling so bohemian and summery with my wavy hair I decided to go the whole hog and wear my new maxi skirt too. I was thinking at the weekend 'I really need to get a maxi skirt' and then the next day I stumbled across this really simple (and cheap) one in H&M. Fate, perhaps? Anyway I kept the look monochrome and opted for a white crop top and statement necklace. I also had my leather jacket on as although the sun was out the temperature was still in single figures. Brr!

I took my outfit on a bit of a pub crawl that afternoon as I live just down the road from a lot of great pubs. One of them serves its drinks in jars with straws. Cool right? Well after a few hours of that we came home for a quick change before heading back out - this time to our local gay bar! I basically wore the same thing but swapped the long skirt for a short one and added some polka dot tights and a hat. Oh and my new embellished skull clutch bag from Primark. I honestly think if I told people it was McQueen they'd believe me. Sometimes Primark get it so right.

By the way I've just agreed to take part in a hair show at my old college this Friday. They're going to make me up as either Audrey Hepburn or Scary Spice. I'll try and take some pictures for you as I'm sure either way it'll be pretty hilarious.

Oh and did you notice I've changed my web address?

Current obsessions: Cara Delevingne

Don't ask. I have no idea how to pronounce her last name properly.

Cara Delevingne is my current obsession! Is that weird? I mean, I'm not obsessed with her. But she is pretty cool. She's a British model and it sickens me to tell you that she was born just a couple of months before I was. Does anyone else hate it when you find out a famous celebrity is the same age as you? This girl has been the face of more than one Burberry campaign, is a style icon and probably rolling in loads of cash. And what have I been doing with my life whilst she has been accomplishing all this?! Yeah. Not much.

But I won't dwell on this for too long. I suppose being slightly envious of a supermodel's life is only to be expected. She does have incredible style though. I am going crazy over her 'just rolled out of bed' and 'put no effort into this outfit at all' kind of look that she seems to go for during the day. She has a very grunge-y style, I'm talking lots of leather jackets and band T-shirts, but she manages to pull off the tomboy look, and still look feminine, simply by having incredible hair. The backcombed, sixties style that she's got going on in the middle picture below is my absolute favourite. Combining 90s grunge with 60s Mad Men hair styles probably shouldn't work. But it totally does on Cara.

Not to mention she scrubs up pretty well as well! Her more polished outfits are equally as beautiful as her slouchy day-to-day wears. I'm particularly loving the white maxi skirt slit right up to the thigh paired with huge cat eye sunglasses. Once again she manages to look really glamorous, effortlessly.

Oh and I couldn't write about Cara Delevingne without mentioning her incredible eyebrows. I have a thing for eyebrows, I always notice them and I love someone with a really good brow shape (slightly odd, I know). I love how this girl lets her beasts of eyebrows do the talking and keeps the rest of her face pretty minimal, but paired with the coral lip colour looks equally awesome too. I love this girl!

My month on Instagram... February

So the last 28 days have flown by worryingly quickly. We are well into 2013 now, and I only have one more month to get through at Uni until the Easter holidays finally arrive. After Easter I have a few deadlines and then there's just a couple of exams to revise for and my second year will be officially over. And personally, I can't wait.

Anyway, here's what my Feburary looked like via my Instagram. I particularly enjoyed my crumpets with marmite on. And my butter beer at Harry Potter World. And my spotty tights. And my embellished skull clutch bag.

I hope you all enjoyed your February. The weather definitely started to look up in March last year, so I've got my fingers crossed for some warmer weather this month. Enjoy the pictures!
